Cruise Ship double act for Coast

It’s turning out to be a big week for tourism on the Sunshine Coast….

Business here, especially those in Mooloolaba, are rejoicing with TWO cruise ship visits this week.

Yesterday almost 1800 passengers on-board the Pacific Jewel came ashore, while today the P&O Pacific Explorer is here.

Each cruise ship visit to the Sunshine Coast injects $25,000 into the local economy.

Property and drugs targeted in Kawana Waters

Police have wrapped up an extensive investigation into drug and property offences in the Kawana Waters area.

Detectives from the tactical crime squad executed 10 search warrants at homes in Wurtulla, Warana, Buddina, Aroona, Currimundi and Little Mountain- resulting in 11 people being charged with 29 offences.

Police say information provided to them from members of the public assisted with their investigations.

Arson watch

While the weather is perfect right now for our fire crews to conduct hazard reduction burns- they’re worried that this bushfire season could be a long one.

They’re working closely with police to try and prevent bushfire activity sparked by arsonists.

RFS rural area manager GARY SEAMAN is encouraging us to do our bit by reporting suspicious behaviour.

You also need a permit to burn anything larger than 2 metres.
