New chancellor to be sworn in
A changing of the guard at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Air Chief Marshal Sir ANGUS HOUSTON will be sworn-in as the new Chancellor at a formal ceremony this afternoon.
Sir ANGUS takes over from JOHN DOBSON, who recently retired after serving in the role for the past decade.
Landsborough motorcyclist dies in weekend crash
The forensic crash unit is investigating the circumstances leading up to a fatal motorbike crash at Palmwoods on SATURDAY.
A 48-year old man died after coming off his bike on HUNCHY ROAD…investigators say the stretch was straight, on approach to a bend.
A passing nurse and doctor performed CPR, but the man died at the scene.
It was the second fatal motorbike crash on the Sunshine Coast in a week.
Alleged Maroochydore carjacking
A man was forced out of his car at knife point in Maroochydore on SATURDAY night.
The 39-year old man was driving his 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution sedan at about 8:30, and was stopped at a set of traffic lights at the intersection of Maroochy Boulevard and Plaza Parade, when a man approached and opened the driver’s door, demanding he get out.
The accused then drove off, and was last seen heading north along Evans Street, then onto Fisherman’s road.
He’s described as caucasion, 25 years old, with scruffy hair, and was wearing a dark-hooded jumper and was carrying a black backpack.

Falcons fail in Intrust round 22
A shock loss for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in their round 22 Intrust Super Cup clash against the Mackay Cutters.
They went down 30 points to 26….with coach CRAIG INGEBRIGTSEN vowing to change the make-up of the team ahead of this weekend’s round 23.
The Sunshine Coast side has now dropped to third on the ladder- meaning they’ll miss out on a first-round bye in the play-offs.
