Promoter TEG Dainty today announced that Australia’s newest major music festival, SandTunes, will be moving to a new premium venue in 2019, after listening to responses from the local community. The two day music event will now ignite the grounds of The Gold Coast’s state-of-the-art Metricon Stadium on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December, and extend entry to fans aged 15 years and upwards.
An accompanying new ticket price offers single day passes from $129 and two day passes from $199 available at Ticketek (until allocation exhausted) – with payment plan options available for those keen to catch their favourite acts at one of summer’s hottest weekend festivals. SandTunes 2019’s world-class line-up sparked immediate excitement, confirming international heavyweight Travis Scott’s only Australian show, plus the long-awaited debut arrivals of LOGIC and Carly Rae Jepsen down under – as well as Juice WRLD, CHVRCHES, Dean Lewis, Sampa the Great, Cub Sport and many more..
Paul Dainty said: “SandTunes is the must-see festival of 2019 because the line-up is incredible. It features Travis Scott’s only appearance in Australia, Logic’s first ever appearance in Australia and a ton of other fantastic acts including Australia’s own Dean Lewis.
“Despite our vision of staging SandTunes on the beach we’ve come to appreciate the many advantages of hosting it within a world class multi-purpose Metricon Stadium, which has a storied history of live music and festival events including Foo Fighters, the iconic Big Day Out and the blockbuster stadium show next February 2020 with Queen and Adam Lambert, also promoted by TEG Dainty.”
Commenting on the move, TEG Chief Executive Geoff Jones said: “While Coolangatta presented as the perfect backdrop to host this event, and despite Gold Coast City Council approval, it has become increasingly apparent that local businesses and residents are now not in favour of that location. We have listened – and we are acting.
“We are committed to bringing premium ‘A-list’ artists to this great city and this great state and regardless of venue, we can’t imagine SandTunes being staged anywhere else than the GC.”
Ms Kate Jones, Queensland Minister for Tourism, says of the new re-vamps: “This is one of the best line-ups that’s been assembled in Australia in recent history. It will bring thousands of tourists to the Gold Coast and pump millions into the economy. We’re committed to delivering world class events that support local jobs and grow the tourism industry. SandTunes will achieve just that.”
Festival organisers have been involved in extensive local engagement with over 20 organisations and representative groups, including Queensland Police Service and other State and Local Government regulatory authorities as well as key community leaders in the Coolangatta area – a process which began over two years ago. SandTunes 2019 will provide a financial boost for the Gold Coast area, generating economic benefits of more than $11 million.
Existing SandTunes ticket holders will be contacted by Ticketek for further information and will be automatically upgraded to a PIT ZONE ticket. This ticket provides access to the dedicated PIT ZONE area located on the field, as well as access to a chill out zone seating and an express lane at bar and food outlets. Current SandTunes ticket holders will be contacted directly by Ticketek.
Kick off the summer of your dreams with one of Australia’s biggest star-studded music events!
